With quality products around the machine tool, HAIMER GmbH developed from a small job shop to an innovative Global Player within 45 years. With continuous and sustainable technological innovations, the family-owned company established itself as the world market leader for shrinking and balancing technology, the European market leader for tool holding, and a leading supplier of presetting technology.
Founded by Claudia and Franz Haimer, Haimer GmbH began in their home basement on March 1st, 1977, and has been supplying their brand name products in the metalworking market since 1987. HAIMER has become the system partner for complete tool management in addition to the large offering of 3-D sensors, tool holders, and solid carbide cutting tools. Over the years, the products have expanded to shrinking, balancing, and tool presetting machines with the HAIMER DAC (Data Analyzer & Controller) tool management system and the newest automated Shrink Automation Cube station for shrinking and unshrinking of cutting tools with high length repeatability first introduced to the industry in 2021. This year, we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of HAIMER USA's full operation from Chicago to all North American markets.
First Open House at HAIMER USA
Brendt Holden, the founder and President of HAIMER USA, began his career in the metalworking industry as a young college graduate in a small shop in the early 90s. He learned how to operate CNC machines and mills. He enjoyed machining dies for the cold-forming industry. However, after a few years of running the machines, he realized that it was important to expand his horizons and look for a job where he could believe in the company's mission. He visualized a company that provided exciting growth opportunities. Interested in leadership and career development, Brendt made one of two decisions that would most impact his life. He started off as a sales representative and started his new career by offering products such as tool holders and presetters for manufacturing shops. It felt right to be creating connections that would be the start of helping companies advance by adding more value.
As a result, the Haimer family met Brendt at the company where he was working, which was the importer that delivered the first HAIMER Balancing Machines to come to the United States.
Original HAIMER USA location and Holden Family
To live by one of our core values, "the benchmark for the value of our daily work is our customer's satisfaction," Haimer GmbH knew that a local sales and service center had to be established to support and satisfy the North American market properly. So, HAIMER set up its first worldwide subsidiary with Brendt and the great support of his wife.
The operation began in 2002 from the Holden family garage, in conjunction with the Haimer family, who understood that a local person should run HAIMER USA to give them the best chance to succeed in this new market. By 2003, the North American operations moved to a 5,000-square-foot warehouse in the Chicago suburb of Villa Park, Illinois. This is where the operation is still today. Now, the warehouse has expanded to over 40,000 square feet. This location has a full inventory, showroom, training room, sales, service, and support center ready to assist our customers.
In 2014, Haimer North America officially founded Haimer Mexico in Queretaro, Mexico. Currently, Haimer Mexico has about ten employees living in the country, willing and able to support the Mexican market fully with HAIMER products.
We are pleased to continuously support the manufacturers with our passion for precision and innovation, expanding our position as a market leader, true to our corporate philosophy of "Quality Wins."
Slowly but surely, we have been learning all about the North American markets, thus providing the best technological advancements in the metalworking industry to fulfill our customer's challenges. "It has been an exciting journey to get the product out to the market because it is a top-notch product that can help many shops," Brendt says.
After the pandemic year 2020, Haimer GmbH achieved strong growth again in 2021 so that the turnover could build on the strongest years before Covid-19 times. The global interest in the established HAIMER products is still unbroken, and the solid carbide and modular milling tools have become growth drivers. Step by step, we are expanding our product range with solutions for digitization and automation according to market needs.
For 2022, we plan to exhibit again at the well-known trade shows of the machine tool industry, expecting a backlog demand from many customers. At AMB Stuttgart, Haimer GmbH will participate in a 300-square-meter booth in Hall 1. With IMTS in Chicago, HAIMER USA plans to show the latest trends and solutions for the North American markets on over 6,000 feet. Of course, at all shows, we will present why in the long run, only "Quality Wins."
