Customer Success: Benchmark Electronics Boosts Efficiency with Haimer USA
Benchmark is a global provider of comprehensive solutions across the entire product life cycle; leading through its innovative technology and engineering design services; leveraging its optimized global supply chain; and delivering world-class manufacturing services in the following industries: commercial aerospace, defense, advanced computing, next-generation communications, medical, complex industrials, and semiconductor capital equipment.
The company is headquartered in Tempe, AZ and holds multiple facilities across the North America, Europe and Asia. Derek Majchrzak, CNC Programmer IV has been with Benchmark for 18 years and has seen his “fair share of growth” during his many years with the company.
In 2018, Brendt Holden, President of Haimer USA, and Tony Duran, Regional Sale Manager of Haimer USA, visited Benchmark Precision Technologies with the HAIMER demo truck, initiating a partnership between the two companies that would create a long lasting relationship. Since then, Benchmark has embraced HAIMER's innovative tooling solutions, starting with shrink fit holders and extensions in 2019.
The introduction of HAIMER's HSK holders coincided with the acquisition of an HSK 100 machine from DMG Mori and four DMC 80 machines. Currently, Benchmark predominantly uses HAIMER's HSK 100 and HSK 63 holders, complemented by three shrink fit machines from HAIMER. Their switch to purchasing all shrink fit from HAIMER, nearly 10,000 tool holders, marks a significant shift from their previous reliance on ER and Milling chucks.
HAIMER technology is a part of all aspects of Benchmarks’ operation when it comes to machining all materials from aluminum to stainless steel and titanium. Pricing, availability, and reliability were the main reasons they decided to go with HAIMER, “The decision to partner with HAIMER was based on their competitive pricing, availability, and renowned reliability”, said Majchrzak.
When it comes to benefits, Majchrzak explained several noticeable improvements, such as increased surface finish and accuracy, reduced scrap, cycle times, and tooling costs. Tony Duran explains, “HAIMER products have helped Derek bring revenue and hit goals faster”. Tool life was found to be increased by ten times since implementing HAIMER products and have gone from making parts 4:1 to 10:1, Majchrzak says.
When it comes to HAIMER’s service and support Majchrzak said that “There has always been good and friendly support every time from HAIMER and Tony Duran has always had good intentions”, explaining that this has led him to recommend HAIMER to others.
Looking into the future, there is much optimism as Benchmark Electronics' success continues along with the collaboration with HAIMER.
