Protection in the ICU

Keegan Kennedy, an ICU Nurse in Crown Point, Indiana, has worked in critical care for approximately 10 years and has been on the front line, working in various dangerous situations. “Being in the ICU, we are exposed to an array of issues that cannot come in contact with your face, airways and such,” explains Keegan. “We work in a lot of high risk environments, such as with COVID-19 patients.” When the pandemic started, the hospital Keegan worked for provided another brand’s face shield to all of their employees to help protect them against this virus but Keegan noticed quickly that the quality of those face shields were not up to the standards he was looking for. “The hospital provided a face shield but they weren’t really holding up,” says Keegan. “Even after sterilizing the provided face shield, it became difficult to see through it.”
