Technology Review 2020: HAIMER's Latest Innovations
Even though this year offered very different challenges, HAIMER was still able to deliver new products and meet the needs of the industry. While the world looks forward to a new and hopefully better year, take the opportunity to look back at everything HAIMER accomplished in 2020.
New Industry 4.0 Power Clamp Machines
HAIMER debuted two new Power Clamp shrink fit machines to the market: the compact Power Clamp Air i4.0 and the Nano NG i4.0. Both are true specialists in their particular applications. The Power Clamp Air i4.0 enables a particularly even and clean cooling for all kinds of shrink fit chucks and shrink fit collets, regardless of the outside contour, by air nozzles – without dirt and water residue. The Power Clamp Nano NG i4.0 was specially developed for shrink fit collets and small tool holders up to size HSK-A63. The shrinking process is horizontal, with a fully automated motor coil and air cooling.
HAIMER’s Newest Product Allows Individuals to Return to Work Safely
The Coronavirus pandemic created a lot of challenges that companies had to face head on such as being forced to close for many months and struggling to find Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Introduction of the New Duo-Lock™ Die and Mold Chuck
Duo-Lock™, HAIMER’s modular cutting tool system, maximizes a carbide tool’s productivity in both roughing and finishing applications. It provides high load capacity and rigidity when machining at high metal removal rates.
The new Duo-Lock Die and Mold Chuck allows for direct Duo-Lock clamping with an inner coolant bore. Up to 9 inches in gage length with a stable tapered OD design, while still providing slim profiles for deep reaches in the Die and Mold industry. What makes this tool holder extra special is the solid carbide core in the center of the tool holder, which gives some damping effects. This core allows machinists to see a better surface finish due to the reduction of vibrations.
Face Contact – Now available in Inch and Metric in Multiple Tapers
Because these new steep tapered holders from HAIMER have face and taper contact when used in the appropriate machine spindles, more radial load capabilities are possible in the machining process. This also allows for increased rigidity which is helpful for deep reach, extended tool applications.. This year, HAIMER released new Face Contact tool holders (available in inch and metric) in multiple tapers (BT30, BT40, BT50, CAT40, CAT50) and in many holder designs, such as shrink fit and high precision collet chucks. These holders are also compatible with Big-Plus* spindles.
Gear Skiving Option Receives an Update
While a Gear Skiving option has been available in the past for the HAIMER Microset VIO Linear tool presetters, this year HAIMER made it even better. With this option, the optical carrier (which includes the camera and lighting devices), can be swiveled by +/- 25o. This feature allows machinists to preset gear skiving tools in a whole new way and allows the machine tool to keep running, which increases productivity overall. This special technology can also be used to measure the overall tool lengths and cutting edges for other types of tooling assemblies as well – making this machine a very practical and affordable option for those that are Gear Skiving on their mill/turn machines.
